Nomad
With a girlfriend of mine, while travelling, we saw this man, a nomad, a bedoun, every morning baking bread, the stick was used for fetching the flatbread from the top of the coals where it baked for but a short time. The peacefulness of this century old way of baking inspired me...

These two images are from the Freiburg Holocaust Memorial on the Wiwili bridge in the center of this southwestern German city. The monument commemorates the deportation of 400 Jewish men and women to the Gurs concentration camp in Southern France which was an interim holding facility for Jews in transit to Auschwitz.
